He married MARY TRAYLOR ROWLETT, daughter of WILLIAM ROWLETT and FRANCES WORSHAM. She was born 1698 in Virginia, and died in Richmond, Henrico CO, VA. Notes for WILLIAM STILES: IN 1744, William Stiles died in Henrico County. According to Henrico County Deed Book 144-17748, an Inventory of his Estate was made as follows: An Inventory of all and Singular, the Goods and Chattles of William Stiles decd. Praised by order of the Court, the 2nd day of Janaury, 1744,(Should be 1745) by us, the Suborribers, Mary Stiles, Widow and administratrix. Inventory showed Case 2 Pounds and 7 Shillings; 18 hogs; 4 sheep; a mare; a colt; 3 cows; 2 joefers; 3 uear;omgs; 2 calves; 4 pewter Dishes; a Bason; Seven Spoons; 2 Iron Pots; a pair of Pot Hooks; 2 Hoes; a Hatchet; an Old Ax; a Collar and Harres; 3 Harrow hoes; an Old Sadle Tree and a Rope; a Musket; a small Gun; Loom and Harniss; a chest and Lock and Key; a Warming Pan; aBed, bedstead and Furniture; a Spinning Wheel, 2 pt Cards and 2 Spindles; 4 Sides of Sole Leather and a Raw Side; a Cow Bell and Collar;a bread Tray; a Frying Pan; 2 glasses and Saucer; 3 Bottles and a Jugg; a Cedar Pail and a Table and other small trifles; 3 Wasitcoats; a Coat bed hat; a pair breeches and a pair stockings; 2 Shirts and a neck; a New Testament. Witnesses are JOhn Gibbs; John Rowlet; Thomas Rowlet. At a Court held for the County of Henrico, the first Monday in April, 1745. This appraisment of William Stiles,his Estate was ordered to be recorded. Test. Bowler Cooke-Clerk. As Mary Stiles was mentioned as the widow of William Stiles and John Rowlet and Thomas Rowlet were mentioned as witness to the appraisement of his estate, it is almost certain that the wife of William Stiles was Mary Rowlett, perhaps the sister of Thomas Rowlett, who in his will made in Chesterfield County, Virginia, formerly part of Henrico CO, in 1780, mentions a daughter Mary Traylor. Notes for FRANCES SEABORN STILES: Burial: Lawrence Chapel Cemetary, six miles west of Thrall, Williamson CO, TX Francis Seaborn Stiles moved to Lincoln County, Tennessee during his early childhood wit eight other brothers and sisters. His father had purchased 640 acres of land by January, 1819. This land was located on both sides of the Elk River near the mouth Robinson Creek and Tucker Creek. By 1824, Francis Seaborn Stiles's father, John Stiles, had purchased 1,105 acres of land. When John died in 1825, he left several tracks of land to his wife, Margaret Lynch Stiles and family. Frances Seaborn Stiles in 1848 moved with his second wife Matilda and family of nine children from MIssouri to Bastrop County, Texas. Four of the children were by his first wife, Rebecca. One year later they moved to Brushy Creek in Milam County. Milam was just beginning at this time and contained only three families, the Blacks, Kuykendalls, and the Stiles. On this land Francis Seaborn Stiles and his older sons built their homestead. Francis Seaborn Stiles carefully picked this land, for it had trees and good well water and creeks. Francis Seaborn Stiles moved from Laurens County, South Carolina to LIncoln County, Tennesse, then to Missouri, then to Bastrop County, Texas in 1848. His first wife, Rebecca Fincher Newton Stiles died in Tennessee. His second wife was Matilda Moore, daughter of Asa Moore. He was a prominent farmer and a consistant member of the Methodist Church. Notes for SAMUEL STILES: In the Greenville Mountaineer newspaper dated August 4, 1853,"Mr. Samuel Stiles, 80 years, moved from Virginia to Laurens Dist about 55 years ago...25 or 30 years since he married and came to Greenville. He had left a wife and a large family. He has been a member of the Baptist Church for 40 years." It is also know that he lived in Laurens CO, S.C. until July 15, 1816 when he bought 1700 acres on theEnoree River from Young Grivvin in Greenville Co. At the time of his death in 1843, he owned approximately 2500 acres of land. Lias Rogers preached te funeral sermon for Samuel. Paid personal property tax in Halifax CO, VA in 1786. William Stiles grave is located in a private cemetary on the ranch of Mrs. A.P. George (Manie Davis George) who is a millionaire. Notes for JOHN STILES: John Stiles was considerd a very brave man. Sam Houston held him in high regard. John Stiles settled on what is now known as Whiterock, 10 miles NE of Clarksville in 1823. In 1817, after the Inapaw Treaty with the Indians, the western border of Arkansas was surveyed and Old Man Stiles and others insisted it be changed westward so that they would not be in Indian Territory. David Crockett in 1835 crossed the Red river at Jonesboro and going down the river on the Texas side, he spent the first night with John Stiles, his old Tennessee friend. General Harvey had charge of Old Fort Towson, in Indian Territory, 12 to 14 miles north of the Red River from old Jonesboro. William Stiles, the eldest son of Old Man John Stiles, had joined the Texas Army during the Revolution of Texas against Mexico. General Harvery stopped in front of the Red River Company, gave Williams Stiles a beautiful Mexican Scarf, to give to his father, John Stiles, the bravest man that ever trod Texas soil. Old Man John Stiles and Isaiah D. Lawson, had personal charge of Santa Ana, when Old Man John Stiles was named, Houston remarked,"The very man, I know if anybody would take the life of Santa Ana, it would be over the dead body of John Stiles." John Stiles obtained the Masonic Apron and some Masonic Regalia belonging to Santa Ana. The Masonic Apron was in possession of Robert Stiles of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and he kept it on exhibition until his recent death. iv. WILLIAM STILES, b. 03 Apr 1799; m.
