Hello Diane, Its so nice to hear from you about the Stiles family, I am finding that they are an elusive family. I am trying to help my neighbor Betty Holder Fowles who is getting ready for a family reunion and William Robert Stiles b1825 is her 2nd great Grandfather. Here is what I have on this family. I am having a hard time finding them in any census from 1850 to 1900. Have you had better luck? Anyway, here is what I have, perhaps you have something else that you could share with me. I have checked the 1850 - 1900 census records and find no mention of anyone in this line, quite the puzzler. Please feel free to correct me on anything that I have notes on. I need to ask Betty if she has any Stiles photo's, do you have any? I look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks, Wendy .

And Bob C. is correct in supporting you for your question and replying as he did to my response to your question. I was totally out of line for my reply. Regarding your question " Did your father's family originate in New Jersey?" The answer would be no. I am not related to any Stiles family. Was your William Stiles in the military and possibly aboard the USS Serpens? Regards Francis M. Stuart [email protected]
Alzina Stiles was my gggrandmother. Have info on Riggs family. I descend through Alzina and Augustus son, John Robert (my great grandfather) to Lulu Belle Riggs (my grandmother). What is your connection through Alzina and Augustus? Have Riggs info and pictures to share. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, September 02, 2006 2:44 AM Subject: alzina stiles > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jdJBAEB/707 > > Message Board Post: > > i am looking for anyone with info on alzina stiles she married my gggg > grandfather feb.12 1854 in meigis county ohio iam doing research on the > riggs family tree and am stuck would like to find out what country they > come from any help will be awesome feel free to e-mail me > faith riggs reid > > > ============================== > Search Family and Local Histories for stories about your family and the > areas they lived. Sandra, you should not need to apologize. Your posting was completely appropriate. The response to you was inappropriate and not indicative of the usual manners displayed by those interested in the Stiles family. Seeking anyone who shares a connection with, or knows anything about: FELIX STILES Location: South Jersey/probably Gloucester/Salem Counties Birth: about 1770-1790 Died: after 1848 Wife: Supposedly, by folklore: "Ann Sand" (possibly of the "Sandtown" Sands?) He had a son, Felix Jr. who married Maria (we believe) and There's another Felix (amazing isn't it?) 8/27/1828-6/27/1915 who married Mary Ann Sack 10/27/1826 - 2/11/1897 Now these two are buried in Bridgeport, NJ and are my ancestors; we've validated that. What I'd like to do is connect Felix and Mary Ann back to the other local Felix's who are supposedly his father/uncle/grandfather -- or some combination thereof. Then maybe I can get back to England for the rest of the family that might actually connect us to the rest of the local Stiles' -- but with what I've got -- there are a lot of us, but we aren't finding the connection. I lived in SJersey and have done the historical societies, censuses etc. but cannot find a real connection/validation for relationships here. The only thing that I had "concrete" was my Aunt Evelyn Stiles Wilson once told me that "our Felix and his father, also Felix" came to the U.S. on a ship that landed in Philadelphia -- which was the family lore. (No luck on ship manifests either). enjoy your day...... janet AOL AIM SN: Mamaredsrants SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS!!! www.hbprints.com ...my cousin, Hayes' southwestern prints & Indian jewelry & lots more! The story is that he married someone named Winnie. Winnie died in Mangum, OK. Not sure about Robert. They had 2 children for sure - although possibly these children were adopted - not natural born. This is my husband's great grandfather - and we know nothing more about him.

Mine are from middle TN and the spelling is Stills. I'm looking for the parents and siblings of William Houston Stills. I can't find him past 1880 when he married Mary Jane Bogle in Cannon Co. Since he couldn't read and write I'm not sure the spellings is the correct one for him. I've seen it in the census as Stills, Stiles, Styles for the same persons. He had 11 children by Mary Jane and may have been married before. He told family there was Indian in the line but need proof. The only info that I have on him is he was b. 1845-48. ON death. cert. list father as Robert Stills and mother as Mary ?. Thats all I know. Can you help me? Would love to talk to others hunting Stills.
