Friday, 24 Jun 2005 Courtenay Comox Valley Record, Courtenay, BC STEWART, Alexander (Sandy) 1917 - 2005 Passed away June 24, at home after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by wife Anne (Hutton) 1996, brother Bill 2003. He is survived by daughter Linda York (Allen); grandson Robert (Viki); sisters Mary Hargreaves, Evelyn Bloomquist, Ivy Tame; and brother Don Stewart; and many nieces and nephews. Sandy was raised in the Valley. He worked as a mechanic during the war 1940-1945 in Europe. Upon his return he worked until he retired in several garages; the last eighteen years for the Dept. of Highways. Sandy was well-known as Pipe Major for the Courtenay Legion Pipe Band for 25 years. A special thank-you to Dr. Musgrave, the Health Care Workers and Home Nursing for making it possible for Dad to stay at home comfortably. Private graveside service by request.
