Wednesday, November 17, 1999 The Chronicle-Herald, Halifax, N.S. GLENN R. STEWART STEWART, Glenn R. - 82, Halifax, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on November 14, 1999. He was born in Ponca City, Okla, a son of the late David E. and Clara (King) Stewart. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends for his kindness, humor, and wisdom. He is survived by his son, Ron and his wife Michiko, Vancouver, B.C.; daughter, Gwen D'Ambrogi and her husband, Jim; granddaughters, Kim, Lindsay, Halifax; brother, Floyd and his wife Gerry; sisters, Florence, Doris; numerous nieces and nephews, all in the U.S. Glenn received his undergraduate degree from Seattle Pacific University in 1939, his Theology Degree (1943) and Masters of Theology (1946) from the New York Theological Seminary. He was later awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity. His life was spent in the service of others as a United Methodist Minister, a college professor, and a prison chaplain. After the death of his wife and soul-mate, Ruth, in 1997, Glenn moved to Halifax from New York to be with his daughter and family. He loved Halifax and lived here in peace and contentment, finding joy in his hobby as a basket weaver and vendor at the Halifax Farmer's Market. Memorial service 2 p.m. Thursday, in Edgewood United Church, 3055 Connaught Ave., Rev. John Tapscott officating. There will be a reception following the service. Cremation arranged through Snow's Funeral Home. Glenn's ashes will be buried with his wife's in Addison, N.Y. Memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care Program, QEII or Victorian Order of Nurses. In Glenn's words, "How are we to view life and death" I view them as a journey. At our birth we come from God, and in our death we return to our native land. I like to travel. I am going home.
