HEARD in 1851 and died 1883 in Perry County AL. The HEARD children were: William J, Charles M, Judge, Mary and Martha. Sarah Elizabeth's sisters might have been Nancy STEWART b ABT 1847 and Rebecca STEWART b ABT 1849 GA. These girls were listed with her in the 1860 Perry County census. By 1870 Sarah Elizabeth STEWART HEARD was listed as head of household with her 5 children. My understanding is that her husband died in 1863 at Missionary Ridge. According to http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm Samuel A. HEARD was in the 41st Alabama Infantry Company E. Any help or leads would be greatly appreciated. Samuel HEARD'S parents were Charles C. HEARD b 1791 and Sarah WHITMAN. Charles was son of William Henry HEARD 1751-1825 and Nancy Mary McCCLENDON. I am descended from Sarah Elizabeth STEWART HEARD through her daughter Martha Elizabeth HEARD b 1861 who was first married to Henry Edwin LeVERT. Their daughter, Phoebe LeVERT was my grandmother. Martha Elizabeth HEARD was married the second time to Adoniron Judson LOCKE.
