Ruth, I have recently seen some information on this because on my father's maternal side we trace to the Fitz Randolphs who are assumed to be descendants of Rollo or Rollon. I had seen the spelling as Bruix. Now I am looking at a couple of sources that you have no doubtedly found by now. But if you go to: http://www.brucefamily.com/lineage.htm you will be able to see from Rollon and that the first Brus/Bruce came with William the Conqueror as it is written that Alan the Steward did as well. So there is a big ball of wax about the time that the Duke of Normandy aka William the Conqueror, that implicates the Bruce lineage as well as the Stewart and the FitzRandolphs. It is interesting research and by the time I was finished a couple of months ago, I was as confused as I was when I started. Nora Stewart Yahl
