Wednesday, March 20, 1940 The Halifax Chronicle, Halifax, N.S. JANE E. STEWART UPPER MUSQUODOBOIT, March 19 - The funeral of the late Miss Jane E. Stewart of Halifax was held from the home of her brother Norman Stewart of this place on Friday afternoon. The deceased suffered a broken hip a year ago and had been in frail health since then. But she bravely endeavored to overcome this trouble and was soon able to walk about unassisted. Then she suffered a paralytic stroke on Wednesday March 13th and passed away the following morning in hospital. Miss Stewart was a daughter of the late John Sprott Stewart and Sarah Jane Stewart, and was 75 years old. She is survived by one brother, Norman Stewart, Postmaster at Upper Musquodoboit, and one sister, Mrs. W. H. Henry in California. The deceased was well known here where she resided for many years, moving to Haifax about 20 years ago. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. D. C. McKenzie. Interment was made in St. James United church cemetery.
