These books are usually supported by advertising (there are lots of ads for businesses of the times), and sometimes by individual supporters (I believe). There are also lists of clubs and societies, such as Colonial Dames and DAR. The Albany listing is: Mr. & Mrs. Charles M. STUART, 157 Lancaster Street (indented beneath Charles is) John McH, Charles M. Jr, and Thomas A. The Schenectady listing is: Mr & Mrs. Samuel B. STEWART, 7 Stratford Road. Hope this helps someone. I have no other information on these families.
