Hi, Very interesting email on the W. H. STUART line in Scooba. Back in 1993, I visited Scooba (STEWART / AVERY / BURFORD / HARDIN, HAMMACK, TRAMMELL, etc). An elderly lady found out we were there on a genealogy pilgrimage, introduced herself (Smith?), showed us around a bit, and when we left, she gave me a water pitcher that she said she purchased at a gargage sale that originally belonged to Mr Robert STEWART/STUART of Scooba. Wonder if you have any idea which Robert that might have been? Cheers from 6600 ft, Dick Stewart =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=- This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: McKenney, Stuart, Gifford Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5JB.2ACI/298.3 Message Board Post: Brenda, we have corresonded before. I found this info in my Family Tree Maker regarding Dicey McKenney. I found her obit in the old Beazley family years ago and tried to connect her to our Stuart line. However, W. H. Stuart is a different family. She was related to us, though, through her brother's daughter who married a Parnell. Below you will find an outline on Dicey and also her obit. Obituary found in old Beazley Bible; also on Ancestry.com site "Ancestors and relatives of Thomas Lipton Oubre" "Mrs. D. A. Stuart At the home of her son, Mr. D. P. Stuart, in Scooba, on the night of Tuesday the 19th, inst., Mrs. Dicey Ann Stuart "entered into rest", after a short illness from heart failure and at the ad vanced age of seventy-five years. Death comes to all of us, and by most of us is dreaded; but when one has "borne the heat and burdens of the day" as this loving mother had, when one can all but see the angelic faces of the dear ones gone before; awaiting our coming, as this good woman could, death is indeed but an entering into rest. And there remains for us who are left the Master's promises. Deceased left two sons, Messrs. W. H. and D. P. Stuart, three daughters, Mesdames Jerry Aust, Wm. Smith, and G. A. Gifford, a number of grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing, and to all of them in their sorrow our sympathy is extended." Editor's note: G. A. (George Alexander) Gifford was actually a son from her first marriage to John T. Gifford. Mrs. Jerry Aust (Fannie J. Gifford) and Mrs. Wm. Smith (Mary Mollie Gifford) were the daughters from that union as well.
