I have a William Stewart born 1794 in Tarbolton, Ayrshire, Scotland. He married Agnes Brown on January 29, 1819. There appears to have been a Marriage Bann on January 15, 1819 in Craigie, Aryshire, Scotland. The birth date and birth place for Agnes may have been October 6, 1799 in Craigie, Aryshire, Scotland. William died on April 10, 1874 in Little Harbour, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Agnes died after 1881. My husband descends from a son of this couple, William Brown Stewart, born January 16, 1824 in Tarbolton, Ayrshire, Scotland. William Brown married Janet (Jennet) Simpson, d/o Andrew Simpson and Janet Archibald. Janet (Jennet) was born about 1826. They were married on November 11, 1867 in Merigomish, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Might anyone be able to assist in the mystery of uncovering the parents of William Stewart (born 1794)? There exists a possibility that his father may have been Thomas Stewart and his mother Agnes Rodger as per Stewart births in Tarbolton at http://fp.ayrshireroots.plus.com/Genealogy/Surnames/Stewart/Stewart%20B%20&%20M%20Ayrshire%204.htm#Tarbolton but I have no idea. Might anyone be able to assist in the mystery of uncovering the parents of Agnes Brown? There exists a possibility that her father may have been Robert Brown as per Brown births in Craigie at http://fp.ayrshireroots.plus.com/Genealogy/Surnames/Stewart/Stewart%20B%20&%20M%20Ayrshire%204.htm#Tarbolton but I cannot say for certain. Mayhap I will be truly lucky in that I will be able to connect with a descendant that shares the same lineage. If not, how accurate are the records in Scotland and how does one access them?
