    1. Re: [STEWART] Re: James Stewart, son of Joseph and Levinah
    2. I have a Susannah that was sister to a John and James in Mason County, KY circa 1792 and in Adams/Brown counties Ohio by 1802. These were three of the children of Joseph Stewart (1749 or 1750 to 1823) and Levinah Unknown. Of these children, Susannah and James never married. Family tradition holds that Joseph and Levinah joined with 4 other families to construct a keel boat at Braddock, PA and traveled in the spring of 1790 or 1791 to Limestone...settling at Washington (Kenton Station) KY. A year(s) later they crossed the Ohio to settle a farm opposite Maysville. This Susannah had close association in later life to the West, Reed and Conner families. She died in the 1870s (I don't have my notes before me) and I have a copy of her will that was filed with the Brown County Clerk in Georgetown, Ohio. Joseph and Levinah are my stonewall. I have speculated that Joseph might be the 9th son of Samuel Stewart (of the Samuel/Hugh Stewart line of Dauphin County, PA) but I have been unable to trace this son of Samuel. Has anyone followed Samuel's son Joseph? I have located a Joseph Stewart in Morgan Township in Washington County, PA (the Tenmile Country) in the late 1780s... up until the 1790 census. But I cannot connect this Joseph to Joseph and Levinah...nor backwards to Samuel's 9th son. Does anyone have any helpful information for me? Best regards, Stewart Brown
