The spelling was a flip flop thing. It depended on who took the census, made the deed etc. My last name was on tax records as STEWARD, STUARD, STEWART and finally about 1820 we were Stuart. I still have distant cousins who use the spelling STEWART., and my great grandfather`s grave says STUARD. Miss Territory was at one time Spanish and French. The Chicksaws were all over there, inluding GA and FL. There is on line the Treaty from 1818 (I think that is the date) with all the Colbert Family. I have not done much on the Colbert family, but have spent some time on HOLDER. The Holder`s intermarried with a lot of families, including Stewart, Bledsoe, Hardin. Bledsoe Holder was the son of John Holder and Agnes Bledsoe. And yes, they did live at one time very close to Hamilton Stewart in Surry CO NC and probably later in Franklin CO TN. Another surname that is assoc. is LOONEY. When do you first find your William Stewart and where? Teresa Stuart de Rios
