    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Stewart/Gowen/Ford Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AmJBAIB/7331.1 Message Board Post: Hello Sherry! My Stewart line migrated from Amelia co. VA. to Spartanburg/Greenville districts of SC to Carroll co. TN. then to White and Faulkner counties in AR. My ggrandfather was James Franklin Stewart who had a brother named Milton B. Stewart b. Greenville, SC about 1819. He lived in Henderson and later Gibson co. TN. I don't think he ever moved to AR. However his mother was believed to be Letty Gowen Stewart d/o of William and Marium Earle Gowen of Greenvil;le co. SC. Her sister Mahulda (Hulda) married Zachiriah Stagg and they moved to Hot Springs county, AR. This may not have anything to do with your Stewarts but its not a common name (Milton) for Stewarts. My Milton Stewart is thought to have been named for Milton Ford of VA. Let me know if any of this connects. James

    3. HI I'm jumping in here. So much of the info I'm reading about these Stewarts have similarities to my Stewarts. It would be nice if we could find the connection. It might open a lot of doors. My gggrandfather Isaac Stewart was born abt. 1786 in either SC or TN. The reason for the descrepancy is that all through the censuses he is born in SC. Then in the 1900 census this son states he was born in TN. I thought this odd until I found maps from 1783, 1787 and 1800. They all show SC with a long tale that runs across the bottom what becomes TN in 1800. I wonder if my Isaac Stewart was born in a part of SC that later became TN. My Stewarts, along with Ratliffs and Rileys moved to KY around 1806, then TN about 1817, IL in 1829, AR in 1837, TX in 1846 and OK in 1900. If any of this is familiar to anyone I would love to chat any maybe break down some brick walls. Becky http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/~bekk1227
