Monday, April 29, 1940 The Halifax Chronicle, Halifax, N.S. JOHN STEWART UPPER MUSQUODOBOIT, April 27 - John Stewart, eldery resident of Upper Musquodoboit, passed peacefully away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph H. Chaplin, on the morning of April 17th. The deceased was in his 76th year, had been in fair health for some time being confined to his bed for about three weeks. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Rueben Gunn, Antigonish and Mrs. Olive Skaro, Minneapolis, Minnesola; two daughters, Mrs. J. A. Chaplin of Upper Musquodoboit, and Mrs. Tree, Upper Stewiacke, and by four sons, Charles Norris Stewart, Matapan, Mass.; Melville, Medford, Mass.; Ernest and William of Upper Musquodoboit. A short funeral service conducted by Miss Sylvester deaconess in the Dean Congregation. Obsequies were continued in the St. James United Church, with Rev. D.C. McKenzie officating. Pallbearers were E. McL Benvie, Arthur Hamilton, Carl Tree and John R. Chaplin.
