SAMUEL STEWART MERIGOMISH, PICTOU COUNTY, Feb 1 - On Monday morning the death of Mrs. Sam Stewart, occurred at the home of her son, Robert Stewart, after a few days ilness. Mrs. Stewart was in the 78th year of her age. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph McNaughton of River, her maiden name being Annie MacNaughton. She leaves to mourn two daughters, Mrs. C. V. Duggan (nee Elizabeth), Lower Barney's River, and Mrs. J. D. MacIver (nee Rosanna), Barney's River, and four sons, William of Halifax; Joseph, John and Robert, of Merigomish. She leaves 18 grandchildren. Her husband died 34 years ago. Her eldest daughter, Mrs. Howard MacDonald (nee Janet) of Riverton, died in 1915. Mrs. Stewart was the professor of a general disposition and readily made friends. Her funeral service was held from St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, of which she was a loyal member, and was conducted by her pastor, Rev. F. G. MacDonald. Her favourite selections were rendered by a combined choir. Interment was in the church cemetery.
