Dear Gentle Listers: Seems it is time for another reminder...... Please match your subject line to the topic in your message. This thread is drifting. Also... a reminder... discussion of Stewart DNA is to move to the Stewart DNA list. This is not to say there is no room for mention of it on this list. However, the other list is there for the discussion and further exploration. Believe it or not some folks still are not interested in the topic! And I will add my experience with surnames as middle names.... I find more often than not when tracking I have found them to be the surname of the mother of the father, and by extension when the research is of a Scot here in the USA, it tracks back to a paternal grandmother.... being the mother of a father way back when. This has borne out more times than not, in my experience and those I have suggested it to....broke a couple of brick walls exploring in this manner.
