    3. Hi Marian, My grandmother, Ida May STEWART, who was born in Missouri, also said there were Indian ancestors in her family, but she had no idea who or how far back. I'm having a hard time finding my STEWART ancestors. I don't know their names, but they were born in Pennsylvania, moved to West Virginia, which at that time was still Virginia, had children born there, and evidently died. One son, Henry STEWART , moved to McLean Co., Illinois, married and died in Illinois. Henry's brother, Ephraim STEWART, was my gg-grandfather, he also married my gg-grandmother, Leah GROFF/GROVE in McLean Co., Illinois, but then they moved to Missouri. These two men had a sister named Lucinda STEWART, and a sister named Susan STEWART, who married a man named SHUMARD. Lucinda and Susan also lived in Missouri. These STEWART children were all born between 1809 and 1820. I'm beginning to believe there may have been a marriage somewhere further back between a STEWART and an Indian maiden. I had always heard there was, but my Aunt Helen says it comes from her mother's side, the Lays. > > Bye for now. Marian Warren > > > ==== STEWART Mailing List ==== > Looking for cousins?
