By Jan 26, 1831 he bought 75 acres in Washington Co., IN, from Joel Coombs. In NC, this Stewart family lived east of the Pee Dee and Yadkin River fork. 1810 census shows John Jr., Silas, John Stewart, Joseph Stewart, William Stewart Jr. and William Stewart Sr. still living in Montgomery Co NC. Unfortunately there is no census report for 1820 Montgomery Co NC. In 1830 there was Spencer, Laban, Shadrack, Joseph and a John Stewart still living in Montgomery Co NC. We are lucky in the fact that several family researchers before us were active genealogists which has given us a foundation of information to work with, however, we are finding new information because of the efforts of many descendent cousins actively working on Stewart and associated families along with the fact that information is more available to us and we are able to communicate thru available technology.
