OK listers, Here's a real STEWART problem, and I wonder if you have any suggestions or guidance: 1. Known Information 1850 Census Mississippi / Household 47/47 Stewart, Mrs 78 Female b. SCOTLAND Margaret 52 Female NC Effey 40 Female NC Watson, John 20 Male Labourer NC 2. Deduced Information a. Mrs Stewart would have been born about 1772 Perhaps marries at maybe age 25 = marriage say 1797 - 1800? b. Margaret would have been born about 1798. Margaret by virtue of living with Mrs Stewart and by virtue of birth year, is possibly a first child daughter of Mrs Stewart? c. Effey could be a Stewart from another marriage or one of the last children of Mrs Stewart d. If Margaret and Effey are indeed STEWARTs, then they are both either single, OR THEY MAY HAVE ALSO MARRIED STEWART's? 3. Puzzle a. Who is this Mrs Stewart from Scotland? b. Where is her husband (probably dead is a given)? c. Who are the husbands of Margaret and Effey? 4. Ancillary Known Information a. This is in Kemper County, 2 years after my Solomon Stewart removes to Leake County to his new Planation. b. No known relationship to Solomon B. Stewart c. There appears to have possibly been a Hugh Stewart in Kemper Co. as early as 1841. d. We are unaware of a Margaret Stewart, husband of any Stewart, brother to Solomon. (Mary, Martha, Elizabeth, Sarah, Nancy, but no known Margaret) e. At any rate, relating to age, this Mrs Stewart would have been even older than the Stewart brothers' mother, but younger than their grandmother. f. In the 1848 Kemper Co Land Tax Roll, there is a Catherine Stewart, taxed on 40 acres. g. In the 1850 Kemper Co Land Mortality Schedule Catherine Stewart, NC, age 50, dies in Oct of Fever. h. This set of Stewart's does not show in the 1860 Census of Kemper Co, MS. Cheers from 6600 ft, Dick Stewart Colorado
