Mary, in your response to Mike, I think that there is a mixup on these Clarks and Stewarts. They are much intertwined! Yes, Elizabeth is the daughter of Matthew and Jennet Bothwell Clark and she married William Stewart s/o Charles and Mary Ayres Stewart. The children listed in the will of Elizabeth Stewart does not fit with their children...close, but some discrepancies. Taken from Patrie's book p. 155...They had: 1.Thankful b. 1758 who married Robert Patterson and had 5 children 2.David b. 1761 3.Sarah b. 1763 + Andrew Lucas in 1784 4.Jonathan b. 1765 d. 1767 5. Mary b. 1768 6. Jonathan (again) b. 1771 + Sally Gray they went to Chenango Co., NY 7. Ann b. 1781 Hi Mike, The info on Elizabeth Clark on page A14 mentions that she was the daughter of Matthew-2 Clark "(who was killed by the Indians in 1746) and granddaughter of John-1 and Agnes (Adams) Clark." On C166, in a paragraph unrelated to anything else on the page: "Elizabeth Stewart of Saratoga, Saratoga Co. NY, whose will of 21 Dec 1813 was probated 30 Dec 1813, naming children David, Thankful, Sarah, Polly, Betsey and Anna, wife of James Brown, was probably the widow of Lieut. William-5 of Colrain, MA, A14." Noted by Nora Yahl: So it would appear that this is not the same person or SCM has them confused. Even if we were to translate Mary to "Polly" and Ann to "Anna", there is no Elizabeth or Betsy. And where is Jonathan? Nothing is given about John Clark, and he is only on page A3, other than he was "of Colrain". A3 has the children of Charles Stewart and Mary Ayers, and both Elizabeth and William were their children, among others. I would imagine John and Elizabeth Clark were siblings, so the clue about the Clark family should be useful. Note by Nora: On p. 41 of Lois Patrie's book, "A History of Colraine, MA" it lists Matthew Clarks' line and it gives Elizabeth who married William Stewart as well as John Clark who married Elizabeth Stewart and lists their 12 children who they married, but little beyond that. Hope this helps, Mary Mary Kyritsis Kifissia, Greece > Speaking of NH . . . maybe I was deleting too quickly; does anyone > have info on the Elizabeth Clark who m. William Stewart in NH, as > well as the John Clark who m. Elizabeth Stewart in NH? I think they > are mentioned on A3 of the SCM, and maybe at C166 also. I'd like to > check the next generation or two . . .
