In the 1966 book "The James Stewart Family" by Florence S. Dickerson wrote a fair amount about Absolum Stewart, son of Capt. Ralph and Mary Elliot Stewart. She stated he was born about 1770, was the 2nd child of Capt. Ralph and Mary Elliot Stewart. Absolum married 1st. Susannah Smith 2nd. Tabithia Clay Their 11 child was James born 1804. Dickerson states that James married 1st Jemina Goode in 1821, 2nd Eda Skidmore on Feb. 2, 1832. James and Eda had a son James born 1840. Stanley C. Browning's "Tracking the Pioneers", a history and genealogy of Capt. Ralph Stewart and his descendants, (available at http://www.lulu.com/shop) gives James as born about 1799 in Virginia, that he married Amanda Crank, and died Feb. 2, 1872 in Trigg County Kentucky. Browning states the it was erroneously reported that this James married Jemima Goode.
