    3. While I certainly don't know the best company to use for testing, I can say, "Just do it!" (I used Family Tree DNA and 23andME.) I have had some amazing connections, including my Stewart line from Rowan, NC, that connected with an Augusta County, VA, line. 3. I would recommend FamilyTreeDNA.com for yDNA testing, and yes, start with at least 67 markers. You can test additional markers on upgrades, and FTDNA sometimes has specials on upgrades. There are active project administrators for the Stewart Family on FTDNA, and when you join the Stewart and Stuart Projects after testing, they will help sort out who you match and how. You can check out the Stewart Project even before testing by going to this page: https://www.familytreedna.com/public/Stewart/default.aspx?section=yresults and set the filter to Y-DNA67. If you test with them be sure to fill out the information about your oldest known paternal ancestor, and provide information for contacting you. Good luck on your quest! And of course if you have further question, please ask!
