I have often wondered what became of Sheldon's children, as we often visited your family and brought my grandfather, J. B. Stewart, to call on an elderly gentlemen who lived a little way up the road from your farm. I was never clear on his name or his connection to the family, though. My full name is Marianna Stewart, but if you remember me at all it is probably by my nickname, Ranna. My parents were Earl and Peg (Wood) Stewart. Our fathers seemed to be good friends, as well as relatives, but I was never clear on that relationship, either. I am beginning to suspect that William F. Stewart might have been descended from the Frederick Stewart family who settled in what is now Campbell. This suspicion is based mostly on the names of Frederick's sons, William and Frederick. I have yet to locate a birth or baptism record for my great-grandfather, though, except for a probably inaccurate entry in the family Bible, so can't prove or disprove the hypothesis. Unfortunately, the census didn't begin recording names of everyone in each household until after he would have been out on his own. His first appearance in the census shows him as a young man living in the Town of Erwin with another family, probably as a boarder, and working as a sawyer. There's still a lot of work to be done on the genealogy for this branch of the family, and I'm so glad that others are working on it, too!
