    1. [STEWART] Jane Leach Stewart b. 1799 or 1800

    3. I am searching for the death date and burial place of Jane Leach Stewart b. 1799 or 1800 in TN, probably Carroll County, She is the daughter of William Leach b. 1761 in Rowan County, NC. Jane married John Stewart, son of James Potts Stewart b. 1770 NC, and Margaret Witherspoon, b. 1774, probably NC. James Potts Stewart moved to TN and then on to Lawrence County, IL. William Leach died in Carroll County, TN. After Jane's husband died, she left Carroll County and went to Craighead County, AR, with her children and her husband's niece Francis L. Stewart, daughter of James Alexander Stewart and his first wife, Francis Barker. They are seen in the 1860 census of Craighead County, AR. Jane had four sons. Three of them were killed in the Civil War. The fourth was captured in Helena and imprisoned at Camp Douglas for much of the war. This was Abner Potts Stewart. He survived and is my great grandfather. After the war, Abner went to MO and lived in Kelso, Scott County, MO, where he is seen in the 1870 census; however, his mother is not with him. His sister, Margaret Elizabeth Stewart had married John Wesley Barker and moved to Newton County, AR, but there is no evidence that Jane went with them though Margaret Elizabeth's family has Jane's Bible. Abner Potts Stewart married Lydia Ann Wilkerson of Sharp and perhaps of Lawrence County, AR. I have search these counties for Jane, but no luck. While she is probably buried in what is now an unmarked grave, this roll call was another opportunity to look for Jane, my great great grandmother. Thank you, Linda Wilson --
