    1. [STEWART] Response to roll call for Stewart lines
    2. Mary Anne Robinson
    3. In response to the call for Stewart queries, I have two Stewart ancestors. 1. Farthest back, ancestor George McDonald was born in Scotland in the 1700's and came to the US. He married a Stewart woman who was the daughter of Joseph Stewart, South Carolina. We have a copy of the will in which George and his wife receive and inheritance from Joseph. In some on-line trees, George is erroneously called George Washington McDonald. That was not him, it was his son. Also, the un-named Stewart woman has been assigned the name of Sarah in some family trees based on naming conventions of the day, but there really is no record of her name. George and his wife had sons George Washington McDonald [my g-g-grandfather], Stewart McDonald, and daughters Sarah, Bettie, Fanny, Nancy and Mary. 2. My other Stewart, also documented as Stuart, was named Mary, but was nicknamed Polly. She was born about 1792 in North Carolina. We have no record of her parents. She married Andrew Russell in South Carolina - we have a copy of her marriage license. With Andrew Russell, she had twelve children. Her sixth child, a son, is my g-g-grandfather Andrew M. Russell, an Alabama farmer who died in the Civil War, Alabama 28th Infantry. Hope this can help another Stewart researcher or two!
