I am searching for the parents and siblings of George Stewart, born between 1775 and 1784. I have little to document his place of birth, and what I do have is inconsistent. On later census records, two of his children are listed with a father born in Virginia; one is listed with a father born in Ireland. Notes and stories passed down through the family state that George "came from Scotland." George married DELPHIA PIERCE on August 26, 1808, in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. George and Delphia lived in Virginia for several years (likely Spotsylvania Co). They then moved to Kentucky. By the stated birthplaces for their children, it appears this move occurred sometime between 1817 and 1819. Family stories hold that George and Delphia first lived in Fayette County. I have yet to document them in that county. George and Delphia eventually moved to Mercer County, Kentucky, locating a few miles north of Perryville. They appear in Mercer County for the first time on the 1820 census and the 1820 tax rolls. George and Delphia remained in Mercer County for the rest of their lives. George died in 1823 or 1824. Delphia died in 1864. George and Delphia were the parents of eight known children: Elizabeth Stewart: b. 1810; d. 1849; married William May Thomas Jefferson Stewart: b. 1812; d. 1870; married Elizabeth Blackgrave George Stewart: b. 1815-1820; d. 1844; married Talitha Potts Lucinda Stewart: b. 1815; d. 1875; married Vincent L. Blacketer Mary Ann Stewart: b. 1817; d. 1910; married William Powell James Allen Stewart: b. 1819; d. 1896; married Emeline Hargrove and Nancy J. McGinnis Jane Stewart: b. 1820; d. 1845; married Tyra Gibson Sarah Ellen Stewart: b. 1822; d. 1916; married Richard H. Guthrie George and Delphia are my 4-gr grandparents. I descend from their son George. I would dearly love to find George’s parents or siblings, but right now am at a brick wall. Would love to chat with anyone who is researching this family. Thanks, Julie
