Author: Joy_Gray_Mazz Surnames: Stewart, Foster Classification: queries Message Board: [2]Click here Message Board Post: I have been looking for the Native American connection in my family lines for many years and keep coming back to Lois Stewart Butterfield and her twin, my gggrandmother, Lydia Stewart Nutting. I have some photos in which Lydia appears to have Indian heritage. I've tried so many avenues over the years and come up empty, but I've yet to make contact with descendants of Lois Stewart Butterfield on the subject. Hopefully, I can exchange information with one or more of her descendants so that I can either rule out the connection or find my Native American cousins. A story passed down through the family has fascinated me for t least 60 years now. Two little Indian sisters were rescued by a soldier during a raid on their village. Their family was killed and he became their foster father. Years later, when I discovered Lydia and Lois Stewart's mother was Lois Foster, I thought there might be a grain of truth to the story.
