Walsh grew up in Salem Alabama. He started a family there. He had two daughters (maybe other children as well) --Rachael and Narcisse. A white man raped one of his daughters. He either killed, or assaulted the white man, and therefore had to leave Salem. He traveled west to the Mississippi river where he settled near Vicksburg (Utica). He eventually remarried and started another family. He had several additional children. Two of these daughters, he named Rachael and Narcisse. This story was undoubtedly transmitted to my father from his grandmother Lula who is a sibling of the Mississippi Rachael and Narcisse. This story was later corroborated by one of my dad's uncles who claims he saw an obituary in the Wash DC area confirming the death of either Rachael or Narcisse (presumably the Alabama pair). This story sounds rather fantastic, but my dad has always had a very good memory (until recently being beset with dementia). I am using Ancestry to see if I can confirm the story by locating a record of the Alabama sisters that correlates to the story that has been passed down.
