George Abbott also spent time in Salem when he first arrived. they certainly knew each other while in Salem, if not in England. i also read that Rogers picked up a "large' number of families while in Salem who joined him in the move to Rowley. Could easily have been where and how Abbott ended up joining the Rowley settlement As i remember, Abbot had money: this would cause most settlements of the time to try hard to get him to join their particular group.
