Alexander G. Stewart New Glasgow, Nov. 14 - The death of a prominent Pictou County Citizen took place at New Glasgow in the person of Alexander Gordon Stewart. Mr. Stewart was born at Scotsburn, Pictou County on November 9, 1851, and at the age of 10 he went to California where he remained for twenty-five years, and was there associated with three of his brothers in harness making and the tanning industry. Returning to Scotsburn he built a beautiful house which is now the United Church Manse. Since Mrs. Stewart's death in 1927, Miss Annie Stewart has been a loyal companion to her brother. When Mr. Stewart retired from farming they moved to Pictou and a year ago came to New Glasgow where they made their home with their nephew, John W. MacLeod, and Mrs. MacLeod, Temperance street, where Mr. Stewart died, after a brief illness. Surviving in addition to the sister, Miss Annie Stewart, are three brothers, George and Peter Stewart, Scotsburn, and Robert Stewart, Toronto. The funeral service and interment took place at Scotsburn.
