Author: SpinnersChase Surnames: Stewart, Hogg, Laidlaw, Rankin Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.stewart/10086/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm trying to trace what happened to John Stewart [b1854 Airdrie Scotland] after the 1891 Scottish census when he was living at 800 Garscube Road in Glasgow with his 2nd wife and family, listed as a mosaic tile inlayer. The only other trace I've found of any of the family listed on that census is the passage to Canada and subsequent marriage & death of his 6th daughter Variona Hogg Laidlaw Stewart. John is my husband's great-great grandfather through his 5th daughter Jeannie Rankin Stewart [b1883 Glasgow] who travelled to South Africa at some point, possibly to join another daughter who had married a farmer there.
