Spelling wasn't standardized. I've been looking at this line of people for quite a while as well and looked at the vital records for Duxsbury and surrounding towns in Massachusetts. There were no Stewarts in the area. I've been leaning toward his origin in Great Britain in a village called Ducksbarrow but I have no proof. I've been trying to solve some problems in the Stewart and Lindsey lines in the 19C. Do you know about Eliza Stewart and Ethelbert Lindsey? They are my great great grandparents.
