FYI>>>> for the Texans on the list(s). Mr. Aitken has asked that we forward this message to those who may be interested. Yours Aye, Lauren ________________________________ The Scottish Society of Dallas is hosting the dedication ceremony of the Texas Tartan Day Commemorative Stone. We would like to have as many people attend the ceremony as possible. Date: Wednesday, August 18th Time: 6:00 p.m. Place: W.O. Haggard, Jr. Library 2501 Coit Road Plano, TX 75075 972.769.4250 PLEASE REPLY IF YOU WILL ATTEND. [email protected] The Haggard library will need a head count to provide a large enough room. Mr. Frank Maurer, a stone-carver from California, has created a stone carved in ancient Pictish tradition for each state to commemorate National Tartan Day in the USA. Our Texas State stone has been created with symbols meaningful to our state and Scottish heritage. Our stone will be Texas Limestone that comes from the same quarry that our state capital’s interior stone is from. Mr. Maurer has donated stones to 13 other states in the U.S. and shall be presenting to Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma in August. As the stone is “portable”… the plan is to display it at various Tartan Day functions and festivals throughout the great state of Texas through multiple organizations. Thank you, John Aitken President Scottish Society of Dallas
