I've been researching the relationship of Jacob Stewart and Mary Ann Edwards for over a year now. We've had several pieces of evidence that lead us to know that the mother of William Lafayette Ledford and brother, James Edwards Ledford was the daughter of Jacob Stewart and Mary Ann Edwards. They mystery has always laid in just who the three eldest daughters of Jacob and Mary Ann were. These three dtrs show on the census records prior to 1850 and are never named. As most genealogical brick walls tend to fall by accident so did this one last night. Charles Keener Stewart was a son of Jacob and Mary Ann. A descendent of Keener named two of the daughters, Adaline and Emmaline [spelling may be incorrect]. The third daughter was the unknown one. I had researched the Edwards family for almost a year prior to the Stewart/Ledford research so I knew the Edwards were Quaker's from the NC area. I also knew that I'd located the Galloway's, Adams, Claytons, Edwards, Stewarts in the same area in Transylvania Co., NC. (all these surnames are linked to this Ledford group). The Galloway's were linked to a Baptist Mission in the area. Last night while researching an entirely different family I ran across some Stewart info in the Quaker data. It seems as if Jacob, Mary Ann, daughters, Adaline, Emmaline, CATHERINE, are all named in some of the church records. In my book this is the third and until now unknown daughter that married an unknown given name Ledford. Joyce Gaston Reece
