Stewarts of Ballintoy and Dunduff. Soon after 15 October 1650, Major John Stewart of Dunduff, Raymogy Parish, Barony of Raphoe, Donegal, married Jean Stewart , daughter of Archibald Stewart, then agent to Lord Antrim. There are two manuscripts in the National Library of Ireland, Wicklow Manuscript Collection # 69; MS 38,520/1 (2) and MS 38,613/3 (2), which are drafts of the pending marriage. The first of these was witnessed by Robert Kennedy, Alexander Stewart and Daniel Fraser. A residence in Ballymoney, Castle of Ballintoy and another in Batteldgmore( sp) are provisionally assigned. Later, in 1665, Maj. John Stewart made his L W & Testament, naming his wife Jean Stewart as executrix, gifting oldest son Archibald and making arrangements for other, but unnamed heirs. This marriage and the resulting family of Maj. John and Jean Stewart seemingly escaped notice of Rev. Hill in his, "Stewarts of Ballintoy". Other Wicklow MSS chronicle Jean Stewart's later affairs as they relate to her Dunduff properties and descendents in both Antrim and Donegal. It is assumed that Maj. John Stewart died before 1675, perhaps in foreign service. I will be most grateful for any factual knowledge of the so far unnamed children of Jean and Maj. John Stewart. Thank you, Dick Stewart Arizona
