MASSEY of Chanute, Kansas, was PAULINE STEWART-born 1910 in McLeansboro,Illinois-daughter of JAMES and MARGARET MINERVA(McGEE) STEWART. JAMES was born April 7, 1852-son of WILLIAM and SARAH(Drysdale) STEWART WILLIAM STEWART was born Sept. 9-1822 near Liberty (now Burnt Prairie) White County Illinois--youngest child of Dr ALEXANDER and MARY(MCLAUGHLIN) STEWART=D:36 DR. ALEXANDER STEWART--born in Glasgow, Scotland-was a graduate of Edinburgh University-and after his graduation-he married and took a position as Veterinarian on an Estate at Comrie,Perthshire. With his wife and younger children he came to the United States-arriving at Carmi, Illinois, on Christmas Day 1818, when his son HENRY was six weeks old. He took up a Farm near Burnt Prairie and turned to the General Practice of Medicine Four of the Doctors daughters remained in Scotland at the time. A Brother came over in 1824 bringing his Blind Father-who died the following year in Albion at the age of 87. Three daughters came to Illinois in 1827, and the other, JESSIE, the Eldest married GEORGE DICK-a young Sea Captain , in New York: after Captain DICK'S death-JESSIE married a Mr STOTTS.
