It is thought he parted company with shipmates William Corner & John McIntosh in Sydney, later leaving for New Zealand. His Father Hugh Stewart & Mother Margaret(McTavish)arrived from Liverpool on ship "Heber", settling on New South Wales property at Tororua Flats near Paterson,NSW.together with his 4 or 5 Sisters.
