Tuesday, October 29, 1946...Amherst Daily News, Amherst, Nova Scotia Widow of Late Dr. George Stewart - Passes at 82 Antigonish, Oct. 27 - Mrs. Ida (Robb) Stewart, widow of Dr. George David Stewart, distinguished graduate of Dalhousie University and eminent surgeon of New York city, died October 26th, at Rumson, New Jersey, following a long illness at the age of 82. Daughter of the late Amelia Lusby and James Findlay Robb, merchant, she was born in Antigonish, where as a member of the younger set, she met George Stewart of Malagash, who at the time was preparing to finish his arts and medical courses at Dalhousie University by teaching in the local St. Ninian's Street School. They married here in 1898. Dr. and Mrs. Stewart retained their interest in Nova Scotia and their many friends in the province during their years in New York and went out of their way to entertain any whom they knew to be visiting in the city, or environs. Before his death, Dr. Stewart became president of the American College of Surgeons and president of the New York Academy of Medicine. During a special Halifax function Dalhousie University in recognition of his eminence and honor that he reflected on, his Alma Mater conferred signal honors on him.
