Hello, Thank you for doing this, it is a great idea. Archibald Stewart born 1730 died Bet. 03 Sep - 07 Nov 1792 in Derry Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania married Isabella Jordan 8 children Sources: 1. In a letter to Edward Reynolds Steuart from William H. Egle, M.D., editor of the Pennsylvania Archives, dated Harrisburg, Penn., Feb. 27, 1889, " William Stewart was an early settler in Middletown township, Cumberland County, prior to the organization of the county, his name appearing on the first assessment list we have, 1751. He died prior to 1762, with a will, and he had among other children, John and Archibald. John Stewart seems to have had possession of the farm in 1762. He died in 1780 and left a wife Elizabeth and children, James, John, Archibald, William, Agnes, Elizabeth, Catherine, and Sarah. John mentioned in his will his brother Archibald, who then resided ( 1779) in Derry township, Cumberland county, this township being beyond the North mountain. Archibald Stewart was a private in Capt. William Willson's company, Second Batalion, Northumberland County, Militia, in active service in July, 1777. In 1785 Archibald had removed to Northumberland ( now Lycoming) county." 2. Which century is the oldest Stewart in your line from? (not who lived to be 100, but how far back you can trace) Please post a query including this oldest Stewart. Include as much information as possible about this person's _immediate_ family (Not a long line of descendants). Include a descriptive subject line. Let others know what records you have already consulted -- cite your sources --- so that a) we don't refer you to records you have already consulted; and b) some kind soul who does look ups won't waste time where you've already exhausted efforts.
