Andrew Thomas Stewart, 1st Earl Castle Stewart was born on 29 August 1725.1 He was the son of Robert Stewart and Margaret Edwards.2 He married Sarah Lill, daughter of Godfrey Lill and Carey Caroline Bull, on 2 August 1782.1 He died on 26 August 1809 at age 83 Stewart Hall, County Tyrone, Ireland.3 Andrew Thomas Stewart, 1st Earl Castle Stewart was baptised with the name of Andrew Thomas Stewart. He held the office of High Sheriff of County Tyrone in 1755.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Baronet Stewart [N.S., 1628] on 24 May 1774.1 He succeeded to the title of 9th Baron Castle Stuart, of co. Tyrone [I., 1619] on 24 May 1774.1 On 28 November 1775 his name was legally changed to Andrew Thomas Stewart.1 He was created 1st Viscount Castle Stuart, co.
