My earliest Stuart is Montie Mell Stuart, born 1874-died 1928 Okmulgee, Oklahoma. My earliest documentation is his 1896 Masonic record where he transferred to the Checotah, Oklahoma lodge, when the Brush Hill lodge closed. I also have his 1898 Muskogee, Oklahoma marriage record to Rosetta Thomason (spelled Tomison on the record), and Okmulgee City Directories 1918 - 1930. The first census I find Montie, is married to (Hannah) Rosetta with children, on the 1910 Okmulgee, Oklahoma. My Stuart family is closely associated with the William Wiley Thomason family, (Rosetta is one of the daughters). The Thomason's are listed on the 1880 Boone County, Arkansas census. My Stuart and Thomason clans began moving to Houston, Texas beginning 1925, and remained there. We are also on the Stewart DNA project, with no matches as yet. There is an 1880 Bald Knob, White County, Arkansas census that lists Montie (born 1871) with father Robert, mother Elizbeth ... unable to prove. Montie has consistently claimed Jackson, Mississippi as his place of birth ... unable to prove. Montie's death cert lists father as "John" ... unable to prove. Family gossip is that his father was a World Traveler, leaving Montie in the care of an orphanage when his mother died ... unable to prove. Family gossip is that Montie's father arrived in Okmulgee to visit the family around 1926. He was said to be a doctor practicing in Arkansas, drove a good horse and buggy, and well dressed ...
