Do you have any documents or other evidence regarding Charles or Hannah's origins? Do you have a family tree that you are willing to share (with references) of descendants of Charles and Hannah? The information that I have at the moment is Alexander Philip / Philipe or Philips Stewart he was a coal miner. Private No` 1918, 2/6th Scottish Rifles(this is from his marriage extract). He was married to Margaret Jane Gordon on the 23rd June 1916 at Dunedin, Motherwell Road, Bellshill his age on the marriage document is 23 which means that he would have been born around 1893. He was based at Terling camp Essex as this is his usual address On the marriage extract. My mother also said that he received a medal and my Uncle said he thought it was the Crue de Guerre although he never collected it, I have also been told the he was a cook ?? , my uncle also thought that he was born in Ireland although i have no information to verify this. I believe that he left the army in 1919 but have not yet verified this but in 1924 he was a Boiler maker Journey man. His fathers name is a mystery as it is Joseph Stewart on the Marriage certificate and Patrick Stewart on the death certificate, His mothers name was Margaret McKay or MacLay ??. Alexander died 27 November 1947 at 10 Cadzow Drive Mossend North Lanarkshire, Scotland. This is all the information that I have at the moment and as far as I am aware it is correct. Any help very much appreciated. Regards William Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Chris, Do you know of any male descendants of Leighton Erastus Stewart (Stewart Surname)who are still living? If so-has any of them completed a DNA? I have always suspected the John B Stewart and Mary Causey Family are related to my Ancestor James B Stewart (born c. 1790-1795)of Wayne County, Jessup Georgia. His son Elias Fort Stewart and his descendants lived in Ware and Pierce County Georgia. Our Family has completed a DNA on our Stewart Family and we connect to Stewarts in Ware,Wayne and Pierce County Georgia, Pulaski County Georgia-Jackson County Florida-Barbour County Alabama and Biensville Parish, Louisiana. Would like to compare notes with you. I've run into a few of those walls myself and 90% of them involve immigrants from England w/no records of parentage. I used to have the Ancestry.com World subscription and was able to break down a few walls, but honestly, not many. I'd also take the other family tree info on Ancestry.com w/a grain of salt. A lot of it is incorrect. I quit searching tree branch information when there is absolutely nothing to back it up and don't accept other tree information as gospel w/o backup because of the many errors I've encountered. No doubt you know about the Google geneological search 'trick': When searching for genealogical information always type searches in the following style per the example below: John Smith b. 1562. If you type the b. (or d.) w/the year you will screen out the extraneous stuff and get 98% genealogical data. I've gotten a lot of information from Google searches that were not on Ancestry.com (e.g, books and other publications). Dear Stewart Listers/Researchers: I am again about to release the week's worth of Stewart Message Board posts to the list. I will likely release them tomorrow morning. I am sending this message today as last week, I sent it just before I released the gateway and it posted AFTER the messages were released. When you see that the address is "gc-gateway" know that the author(s) of the messages, in most instances, are not subscribed to this list. If you would like to reply to them, you MUST click on the Message Board URL link below the main message and respond on the board. IF you merely reply to the list, they will NEVER see your response. The gateway is NOT a two way system. (It would create a never-ending loop.) There is a message at the bottom of each gatewayed post that states: Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you would like to reply to them, please click on the Message Board URL link above and respond on the board. I find that many of you do not notice the gateway instructions on the posts. I have seen really good responses and shook my head as I realize that the author of the message board post will not have benefit of the time and effort spent preparing a response.... and then not posting it where it will be seen by the originator of the message you responded to. So... wake up! Grab your coffee! Put on your glasses and your thinking cap! Here come the gatewayed messages.... Yours Aye, Lauren McLachlan Stewart List Admin

I know with my first known ancestry Charles Stewart its that way 4 of them alone in the 1850 census in Richland County,OH. So many , a bit of serendipity if you got the right one.. Anyway was trying to see if this Thomas Stewart was related to my Stewarts. I have Charles Stewart dob abt 1782 from County Donegal,Ireland came to America abt age 16 or around 1798. Settled in PA for couple years and married a PA Native Nancy Jane Moore. I don't know the County of Marriage but possible Lawrence or Somerset Co's or a county Close to the Ohio boarder . I have documents that trace their tracks where it picks up more in Jefferson Co., Ohio and then on to Richland Co., Ohio. I have tried to find Naturalization Records,Bio's and anything to pin point Charles place in PA. I am trying to find a Deed but so far no luck just a record for Richland County,Ohio that doesn't reveal much. Any way was hoping to see if you had more on them. What peek my curiosity! was Thomas birth date abt 1817,the Son of Charles and Nancy ,James Stewart was born 1814 in Jefferson Co., Ohio he is my gr,gr,gr Grandfather. I keep wondering if they have the correct Thomas Stewart of Samuel W. Stewart, his alleged son. What was the source, or proof of this relationship. Samuel and Thomas names were common in our line of Stewarts, and with other families as well. Maybe the reason we can't find out more about his parents is that we don't have the correct Thomas Stewart? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
