Thanks for the reply Charlene, I have some information on Mary Causey from the family search site. Don't know how accurate it is would like to know if James Causey and Abigale Craven are her parents. Also, do you have any info on the parents of John B Stewart? Family search has them as Gordon Stewart and Sally king. MAY YOU ALWAYS WALK WITH ANGELS
Dear Chris, For many years I thought Mary Causey had married Newton Stewart, my GGGgrandfather. Then I discovered it wasn't true, but I still have some of the research I did on that family. I got most information from "Wayne County, Georgia...Its History and Its People" Edited by Bobby M Martin. I got a copy of this book from the Mary Puckett Middle School in Jesup, Ga. I got, from a listing of marriages in Wayne County, a marriage of John B Stewart to Mary Causey on Nov 24th, 1847. Hope this a bit helpful. Regards, Charlene

I remember when this occurred as one of the young men was from my hometown, and the son of a close family friend was dispatched to Iraq as one of the replacement. My heart went out to all of the families affected at that time. I did not realize a Stewart was among the boys who were killed. It's appropriate now that I reaffirm my sympathies. My own Stewarts are from Cincinnati. A great-granduncle of mine, Edgar, was killed in France in 1918 just days before the Armistice was signed. As communications was slow in those days, the family had celebrated the end of the war and was looking forward to his return when the news reached them. War truly is hell, isn't it? -----Original Message----- From: jasche45133@aol.com [mailto:jasche45133@aol.com] Sent: Wednesday, November 09, 2005 9:35 AM To: STEWART-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Cpl. My great grandfather Leighton E. Stewart, was the son of John B. Stewart and Mary M.(Causey) Stewart. According to a list of early Georgia Marriages, they were married about Nov. 24, 1847, in Wayne County. The list has John's last name spelled Stuart. However, later records spell it Stewart. They had 10 children including my ggrandfather. I know little about the Causey family. Mary was listed as a widow on the 1880 census. Some of the children including Leighton were still living at home. He was about 22 at the time. Sure wish I had more on Causey family. If anyone can help please reply. Thank you, Chris MAY YOU ALWAYS WALK WITH ANGELS

Karen, Mary`s middle name was KEY, this of course is according to George Edson of the SCM. Mary had another sister with the middle name of Key also. This Stewart line was from Northamptonshire CO England, and can be traced back to 1500. They came to Henrico CO VA abt 1660`s. The area they lived in Henrico became Chesterfield CO VA. About 1758 John Stewart son of Daniel Stewart, moved to Amelia CO VA with his wife Mary Bowman Stewart. John was born ca 1700 and died in Amelia CO VA 1779. His father DANIEL was born ca 1670. John Stewart born 1700, had several sons: Charles (the father of Mary K Stewart), John JR, Daniel , Gilbert and Littleberry. Charles was the only one to stay in the Amelia/Nottoway CO VA area. Most moved to Bedford, Franklin and Henry CO VA. Later some moved to Rowan CO NC.
