    3. Hi Dick, The county was (and still is) Craven, and the land was on or near the Neuse River. Ellis does not mention that he was in any way related to STEWART. The book is new --printed in 2005. It is the local history of Havelock and has some interesting information on early settlers of North Carolina. If anyone is interested I will be happy to post the necessary information for obtaining it. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Bellaire, Antrim County, Michighan, although the death occurred in Orlando, Florida. Her death certificate states that she was also born in Michigan. Her husband was William Oliver Maltby (b. 23 Oct 1891 d. 11 May 1981). My grandfather, Stewart Wilson Maltby (b. 13 March 1915 d, 4 Dec. 1989), was their first child. The death certificate states that her father's name was William, but the informant (Grandpa Bill), didn't know the mother's name. I would be interested in any additional information regarding this Stewart family.

    3. My favorite place-name lookup site is http://geonames.usgs.gov (the U.S. Geological Survey's Geographic Names Information System). Go to that site and click "Query GNIS" (a much longer URL to remember, or type!) If you enter a fairly broad search (Cane Creek and North Carolina), you'll get about 47 hits--towns, bodies of water, cemeteries, churches, etc. that have "Cane Creek" as part of the name. Clicking the links on the result list takes you to maps. I've found it interesting to use a family name as the search term, and discovered to my surprise and delight that places are named for us! (Of course they are, but not being the most map-oriented person in the world, I need that little nudge to *look* LOL) Happy Thanksgiving, all! 1. Thanksgiving, something to share ( a recipe)
    2. teresa stuart
    3. Hi Stewart`s/Stuart`s, I thought I`d share a recipe that I have been making for years. As you all know I live in El Salvador, but we celebrate big time every year. I have a recipe for a Sweet potato souffle that the people here love, they beg for me to make it every year, Here goes. 6 large sweet potato`s or 6 pounds. 2 large ripe bananas`s with the peel on 8 oz. of pure maple syrup 1/2 cup butter 1/2 teas. of pumpkin spice 1/2 teas. of cinnamon 2 cups of pecan`s chopped 1 stick of butter 1/3 cup of dark brown sugar bake sweet potato`s in a 450 degree oven, 15 minutes before done, throw in the 2 banana`s with the skins on. When that is done, peel all and put in large bowl. Mix with an electric mixer until pureed. Put in spices, 1/2 cup of the butter and the 8 oz of maple syrup. Butter a Pyrex or whatever you want to bake in. Pour that in. Saute the 2 cups of chopped pecan`s in a pan, take off hit and add the 1/3 cup brown sugar. Put the brown sugar- pecan topping over the sweet potato mixture and bake at 350 until bubbly. Serve hot. Enjoy. Teresa Stuart de Rios __________________________________ Yahoo!
