    3. Eric and Listers, Scotland is good....my folks came over to Nova Scotia in 1773 from Greenock, (Renfrewshire?) Scotland. I am not sure of the shire, as that particular area has had many names. I think currently it is Renfrewshire; at any rate about 30 miles from Glasgow on the Clyde. My John Stewart was likely from Kintyre, perhaps Campbeltown. There is a line of Stewart's in the USA that match my DNA quite closely and they claim Campbeltown as theirs. So for sure there are Stewarts over 'here' that will gladly share any information they have, unfortunately most of us stop dead in the water at the North American Continental shelf. I keep hoping someone descended from a William in VA and/or a Robert in MD will have this line - come to American prior to the Revolution, father Albert, and born in Ulster. Any takers? 3. Jack, I think we have corresponded in the past. I think that you have more than one family here. The Robert Stewart that you have b. 1684 in Ireland is my ancestor. John who married Keturah Holt is his son and so is Samuel who married Sarah Tarbell. Yes, they did live in Andover, MA. This Robert is often confused with others. George Edison has him marrying Lydia Blair and having two more sons. This is not so. The Robert that married Lydia was the nephew of Robert b. 1684, and son of Charter John Stewart of Londonderry, NH. Robert b. 1684 is the s/o Robert Stewart b. 1655 and Jeanette Forsythe b. 1655. All of this family are reported to have been born in Scotland. Jeanette(Janette, Jeannette) and Robert had four known children: John b. 1682 + Elizabeth Clark and 2nd Elizabeth Forsythe. He is known as Charter John, one of the proprietors of Londonderry, NH Robert b. 1684 + unknown and had two sons; John and Samuel as noted above Julianne b. 1686 no further information known Samuel b. 1688 did not come to America and somewhere I read that he never married. Robert b. 1655 died in Scotland but they all lived in Ulster from about 1680 or so and his widow Jeanette and two sons and their families came to Boston Aug. 1718 from Colraine, North Ireland. John went to Nutfield which later became Londonderry, NH and Robert lived in Andover, MA. Assuming that he settled while on the road to Dracut or Londonderry. He lived there many years and then moved to Amherst, NH. Both of his sons married women from Essex county, MA . They later moved to what is Amherst, NH. John b. 1682 d. 1741 in Londonderry, married twice and his widow and mother went to Colrain, MA after his death. Many of his children lived there too and some migrated into New York State. Robert b. 1684 had many grandchildren and many stayed in NH, others migrated to VT and NY. My ancestor Simpson went to Berlin, VT and died there. His grandson Charles May Stewart moved about a lot, but settled in northern Iowa, spending some time in the Anoka, MN area. Although I have a great deal of information on Charter John's descendants, none of the names and places of the people in your list seem familiar...and I cannot see a connection to Charter John, therefore can assume that they have different ancestry. There were many Stewarts in all parts of Massachusetts during the late 1600's and early 1700's. So it would be easy to confuse them. What is your paper trail on your direct line? Hope this helps to sort some of it out. 1. John Stuart born abt 1750, was he a son of Old Bald Jimmy Stuart of Caswell CO NC?
    2. teresa stuart
    3. Hi all, I have seen a lot of "stuff" on old Bald Jimmy Stuart of Caswell Co NC, he died there abt 1783. The most recent "stuff" I found is people saying that John Stuart, who married Sarah FULKERSON and moved to Robertson CO TN by abt 1787 was the son of James Stuart of Caswell and his suppossed first wife Catherine. James did not mention John on his will, perhaps he took him for dead already, or there is just another case of the usual "no proof". I personally think the research that has been done on old Jimmy Stewart is at best lousy, I know many who agree with me on this. There are a few of us who have really dove into all and every single shred of Stewart evidence to be found for this neck of the woods and for Halifax, Charlotte, Pittsylvania, Lunenburg Co VA. I know of one woman who does posses every single Stuart deed for these parts and probably for Caswell/Person CO NC as well. They were not obtained from a book that someone else transcribed either, they were the originals in her hands. For many of us this is the only way to research. Does any one connect to these lines. We would like to discuss all this. Best, Teresa Stuart de Rios __________________________________ Yahoo! for Good - Make a difference this year. http://brand.yahoo.com/cybergivingweek2005/
