My Stewart line migrated from Amelia co. VA. to Spartanburg/Greenville districts of SC to Carroll co. TN. then to White and Faulkner counties in AR. My ggrandfather was James Franklin Stewart who had a brother named Milton B. Stewart b. Greenville, SC about 1819. He lived in Henderson and later Gibson co. TN. I don't think he ever moved to AR. However his mother was believed to be Letty Gowen Stewart d/o of William and Marium Earle Gowen of Greenvil;le co. SC. Her sister Mahulda (Hulda) married Zachiriah Stagg and they moved to Hot Springs county, AR. This may not have anything to do with your Stewarts but its not a common name (Milton) for Stewarts. My Milton Stewart is thought to have been named for Milton Ford of VA. Let me know if any of this connects. James

They were the parents of James, John who married Alberta and died in 1918, Margaret, Sophia, William Stewart born in 1901 who married Ruth McDonel from Atlantic City in New Jersey, Thomas and Catherine. I recently found out Sophie was interred in 1929 at Holy Cross Cemetery, but for some reason James does not seem to be buried with her. Anyone working on this family?

(John's parents were James Stewart and Margaret McCowan Stewart). John married Elizabeth Glass March 15, 1808. They had 11 children:John, Jane, Eleanor, James, Margaret, Mary, Anne, Joseph P., Richard, Thomas M, and Sarah. I am especially interested in the line as it comes down from Richard, born, August 14, 1797. He married Mary Stuart on April 12, 1821. (She was born February 12, 1799.) Their child, John B. Stewart was born May 7, 1825 in Pa. He became a minister and married Nancy MacGregor and they had a dauighter nemed Mary. Thanks for your help. This list is wonderful. Sherry Stewart
