Did anyone see the documentary on PBS(Channel 13 in DFW area) last night?? Henry Louis Gates wanted to know where his ancestry was from in Africa. He and eight other celebrities gave their history, DNA, etc....and the program showed how they used info from paper trails, Census, DNA, Admixture Testing, etc. to trace their lines back in history. Surprising to the celebrities, is that they had a fair amount of European blood. Henry Louis Gates was extremely surprised that he is 50% African and 50% European. Just made me want to jump on that DNA bandwagon!! Lisa Texas

I believe that either on the 14th or 20th of Feb the History Channel will have a special on the "Lost Colony of Roanoke Island". This will be very interesting, they found families with the same last names in VA, NC etc. and did their DNA tests. Father Andrew Stewart lived for a time in Robertson Co, TN, then moved on to MO. After Jesse was born in Franciso Co., MO in 1815, there must have been a family feud. Andrew went to Lawrence Co., AR where he died in 1845. The rest of the "clan" went on to Cedar Co., MO. There is a James here on the 1850 census, that is the age that could be Andrew's brother. Jesse has a brother living near him of James. I would appreciate help on Andrew! As to his parents and siblings. I have an extensive history on the Cedar Counties Stewart/Stewards ...and would happily exchange with anyone! FACT OF THE DAY Mary Queen of Scots was executed at Fotheringay Castle on this day in 1587, after being held prisoner by her cousin Elizabeth I of England for 18 years. Mary had originally sought sanctuary in England after her rule in Scotland ended in disaster but Elizabeth had produced no Protestant heirs to the throne of England and she regarded Mary, next in line to the throne and a Catholic, as a threat to the future of her kingdom. Elizabeth is said to have cried with remorse after Mary was beheaded. heritage.scotsman.com http://heritage.scotsman.com/timelines.cfm?cid=1&id=41522005 ........................................... It was Lord Boyd that had been Mary's confidant for the 25 years she had been locked away in the Tower. As I recall, and it should be verified, he is the one who held and delivered her letter she wrote the night before she died. Yours Aye, Lauren Mary Boyd List Admin
