I have recently gotten some information that my line is kin to your line through John Stewart who was the son of Captain Ralph Stewart of the Cowpasture Stewart's in Augusta County, VA. Ralph later went to W. VA. My line is through Ralph's brother, John, who went to NC when he was a child. Do you know if your line has done DNA testing? Would like to find out if the two Stewart lines are related. LInda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [STEWART] Arvis and William STEWART of Brooklyn, NY
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: onlyonesimone Surnames: STEWART, WILLIAMS, HARVEY Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.stewart/9989/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for the final resting place for William STEWART (1884-?) and Arvis Stewart (nee WILLIAMS) of Brooklyn, NY. William married Arvis (1886-?) in 1904. According to the marriage record that I obtained, Arvis was born in Lynchburg to Stephen Williams and Eliza Harvey. William was born in Bayside, Queens to William Stewart. (His mother was not named on the marriage application). I have placed them on State and Federal Census records between 1900 and 1930. In 1930, Arvis told the enumerator that she was widowed, but I have found no to substantiate this, despite searching for the past couple years. None of the relatives that I have spoken with have any knowledge about the approximate year of death for William, though I was told that Arvis died "sometime in the 1960s" en route to see her daughter Glendora (aka Glenny). I found Arvis' parents on the 1900, 1910 and 1920 Census but nothing after that. She did have a brother, James, who moved to North Carolina with his wife.! I do not know if William had any siblings. Also, I found two WWII Draft Cards for William Stewart in and around the NYC area, either which could have been "my" William, but I just do not know how to verify this due to the common name to go back another generation. Author: potomaclily55 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.stewart/9988/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Just a friendly tip to help with researching. Once you have added a member to your tree, go through the list of all people in your tree and merge any duplicates, or triplicates..etc..etc..etc; to avoid a mismash, or disconnection in your tree layout. I learned this the hard way when my own father wasn't connected to me because of having such a mess....Not only that it makes it easier for everyone to connect the dots...Happy Easter!!! I know I can trace my dad's family back to Kennedy Creighton Stewart in Ireland. He was married to Katherine Junck...I'm trying to make the connection between him back to Scotland where I believe the Stewart's/Stuart's originated. I'm not totally sure what is on my family tree is accurate past Kennedy. Sometimes it's difficult to decide which facts to follow. The haplogroup my family belongs to is the E1b1b1a1b, which are the early farmers. The E1 group is found in Africa, Europe, and Western Asia...If you think we might have a connection, and are willing to share infomation. Please shake my branches and let's help each other find the connection. Thank's!!! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: jsb628 Surnames: Stewart Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.stewart/2938.3007.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: William David Stewart is also my great great grandfather. He had a son, Mack, who was my great grandfather (he had a sister named Lula) who had a son named Joe (my grandfather), Charles Mack and a daughter Mildred Snipes. I have heard about a great rift in the Stewart family, starting with William David's sons (probably started by Mack) though being the only grandchild of Joe, I have never heard the reason and we are basically estranged from Joe as it is. Charles Mack and Mildred Stewart Snipes have long passed away and have no living children. Charles had a son named Jeb who passed away in the 1990's and Mildred never had children. We have records that go as far back as Jeremiah, but beyond that there isn't much information on our side. Joe has two sons, my father is one, an my uncle who has no children. Our Stewart (name) line will die with them as I am the only living great grandchild of Mack and Blanche Tanner Stewart, and now married with children of my own. Any inform! ation on the family history would be GREATLY appreciated :) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
