    1. [STEWART] ADMIN NOTE: Massive unsubscribe happening to the Stewart List members
    2. Lauren Boyd McLachlan
    3. Ok... something is going on with Rootsweb and: hotmail aol live.com yahoo frontiernet rogers.com sbcglobal.net and many more ISPs. Last night in the period of 30 minutes I received bounce and unsubscribe notifications for about 160 addresses/subscribers! I am thinking that somehow a Rootsweb server has been blacklisted AGAIN. I know there's not been sufficient traffic yesterday to bounce all those addresses off the list for being "dead". This generally happened when "someone" or many "someones" at AOL report ANY Rootsweb mail as SPAM. Most of the bounce messages have a message similar to 550 5.7.0 (BAY0-MC5-F32) Unfortunately, messages from (66.43.28.157) on behalf of (aol.com) could not be delivered due to domain owner policy restrictions. 554 5.0.0 Service unavailable and ----- Transcript of session follows ----- ... while talking to mailin-04.mx.aol.com.: >>> DATA <<< 521 5.2.1 : (DMARC) This message failed DMARC Evaluation and is being refused due to provided DMARC Policy 554 5.5.0 Remote protocol error However, it has also come to light that AOL, Yahoo and others have put in place some system to reject mail that says it is coming from someone, but comes via some other means - spoofing. They interpret Rootsweb mail, at this time, to be spoofed address mail and apparently that is what is at hand. When your address rejects list mail, the message bounces. Then your address bounces off the list of subscribers. Visit Password Central to check on your subscriptions. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ If there's something missing from the list... like Stewart@rootsweb.com you will know you were one of those bounced off the list. You are welcome to re-subscribe, but I don't know if it will "stick" depending on what is happening "due to domain owner policy restrictions." ________________ The count is now up to 182... and probably will grow! _________ Contact your ISP and ask them to "whitelist" Rootsweb's servers. I have written Listmaster at Rootsweb and requested they do something at a higher level to communicate with the various ISPs which are blocking Rootsweb's mail. However, your communication with your ISP telling them that they are preventing you from receiving mail that you have subscribed to and desire to receive probably will get more reaction than from another entity telling them how to "run their business." You are money in their pocket and can vote with your feet. Let your ISP know that you subscribe to mail lists at Rootsweb.com and you WANT your mail! You can watch the list mail by going to the archives. http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index/STEWART Aye, Lauren Stewart List Admin stewart-admin@rootsweb.com

    1. Re: [STEWART] Ezekiel Stewart b:1822 GA
    2. Dear Cynthia, I don’t have anything positive, just some possibilities on your Ezekial Stewart, a name I always pronounced E zek’ i al, but which the descendents of the one described below pronounce Ez e ki’ al. First, I have Ezekial3’s first cousin John Stewart3 in Dooly County, Georgia with two unnamed and unlocated sons, one estimated born between 1815 and 1820, and the other born between 1820 and 1825; possibly both in SC, but the latter very likely in GA. Since John3 named his known sons for family names, I would not be surprised if he named a son Ezekial, either for a first cousin’s son, or possibly a brother – he might have one missing Second, John’s uncle James2 settled in Jefferson County, GA by 1820 and had several sons, one named Ezekial3. I seem to have a complete family on his children, none name Ezekial. He had two possible brothers, Isaac3 and Lewis3, that I don’t have good descendent info on and another brother James3 that seems to have only had girls. I know this is slim information, but it’s all I have. We have excellent DNA matches back to John1 from four of his sons lines: John2, Jr. Robert2, Charles2 (father of John3 of Dooly Co. GA) and Elias2. If you have an all-male descent line and could get his DNA tested, it would verify quickly if you were part of our Stewarts. We seem to be unique in our DNA. Let me hear further from you James6 Rush Stewart, Jr. (1926-????); jrstwrtj@hal-pc.org, The Woodlands, TX > I am looking for information regarding this person who can be found on the > 1850 census in Saint Clair County, Alabama. > > > Name: Ezekial Stewart > Age: 28 > Birth Year: abt 1822 > Birthplace: Georgia > Home in 1850: District 39, St Clair, Alabama > Gender:     Male > Family Number:     66 > Household Members:     > Name     Age > Ezekial Stewart     28 > Eliza Jane Stewart     26 SC (Jones)     > Sarah F Stewart     5 GA > William T Stewart     1 AL > > Marriage to Elizabeth Jane "Eliza" Jones >     1841 29 Sep Coweta, Georgia > > > I am trying to find parents, siblings, etc., and  where in Georgia he was > born. > > Also, if there are any descendants who have done a dna test and would like > to compare/look for a match, I would love to hear from you. > > Thanks in advance, > >   > Cynthia - San Diego, CA > > > ********************************* > PLEASE PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION to the address fields when you are sending or > replying to list mail. > ---------------------------------- > Please visit Clan Stewart in America's web site: > http://www.clansstewart.org > ------------------------------------ > Looking for Scottish games in your area? I also have a Charles Elmer Stewart in my tree, who was my grandfather....John Stewart B: 1743 in Procoles, Atrim County, Ireland D: 1818 in Ireland...Hope this is of some help, but do suggest a DNA test in order to find the right branch to follow. I have the marriage registration for Alexander Buchanan Stewart who married Jane Cunningham Clark in 1887 at Netherwood, Inverness- as per census records, I am pretty sure that this same Alexander was the son of David Crombie Stewart and Isabella Buchanan. Alexander's place of birth was Cupar, Fifeshire, although I have seen people attribute his place of birth as Lanarkshire and have no idea why. On the marriage registration however, Alexander's parents were listed as Margaret Buchanan and Alexander Buchanan Stewart. Can you shed any light on this discrepancy for me?
