George Abbott also spent time in Salem when he first arrived. they certainly knew each other while in Salem, if not in England. i also read that Rogers picked up a "large' number of families while in Salem who joined him in the move to Rowley. Could easily have been where and how Abbott ended up joining the Rowley settlement As i remember, Abbot had money: this would cause most settlements of the time to try hard to get him to join their particular group. Alexander G. Stewart New Glasgow, Nov. 14 - The death of a prominent Pictou County Citizen took place at New Glasgow in the person of Alexander Gordon Stewart. Mr. Stewart was born at Scotsburn, Pictou County on November 9, 1851, and at the age of 10 he went to California where he remained for twenty-five years, and was there associated with three of his brothers in harness making and the tanning industry. Surviving in addition to the sister, Miss Annie Stewart, are three brothers, George and Peter Stewart, Scotsburn, and Robert Stewart, Toronto. The funeral service and interment took place at Scotsburn.

Emma was born 1817 in Southwark, London we think. Although in all of her Australian records it mentions Plymouth, England we can find no records of this. Their is a Emma born to a Edward and a Hannah in St George the Martyr in Southwark though. The name Hannah was named as one of Emma's daughters! Emma was transported to Tasmania in 1834 for stealing. She was a farm servant according to her conviction records. She also had the name James Wells (a convict already deported to Tasmania) tattooed on her arm. She stole a clock along with three other girls hoping to join their gentleman friend convicts in Tasmania. I suspect Emma had siblings. If you can find a connection to my Emma please drop me a line!
